We recently moved into a new house that we are in love with.... except for the very small amount of counter space that it has. We started looking at options for kitchen islands and quickly decided that we were going to try a DIY option. Professional islands were just too expensive and not quite what we needed. We first wanted to just find a nice table at a thrift shop, give it a paint job and wheels and call it done. Alas, we couldn't find a table we liked. We then decided to buy the unfinished cabinets at Home Depot (on sale, woot woot!). We added panels sanded, stained, sealed, and added wheels. Next was the counter top. Super easy and I love how it turned out! We bought 1 long board, cut it into 3rd's, glued it together with Liquid Nails, sanded, Stained (x2) and sealed. Viola!! We have a new kitchen island. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask :)
